India is thinking about supply
The Indian government has been considering Nepal's request for supplies since September. The process of supplying more electricity to Nepal under the current power trading system has been initiated. Electricity is likely to be supplied through systems like the Indian Electricity Exchange's day-ahead market i.e. DAM and real-time market RTM. This situation is also important, as Nepal normally exports surplus electricity generated from its hydropower plants to India during monsoons. However, this time due to floods and damage to infrastructure, there is a possibility of reversal of power flow, which will force India to send electricity to Nepal. Both countries supply electricity to each other. So it is certain that India will show this readiness.
What is the impact of Nepal's power shortage on India?
The decline in power generation has also affected India's power exports. According to the report, the power supply to India is approximately 950-1000 MW. That means it has come down to approximately 400 MW. According to officials and industry figures, the decline in power generation in Nepal will have no impact on India.
Officials have made it clear that India does not need to look for alternative sources of energy. Another official said India's large national grid capacity and strong generation storage system could easily cover the 400 MW shortfall without compromising grid stability or disrupting retail supply.
