New equation in power in Bihar: JDU has strong hold in NDA government, Vijay Chaudhary becomes the center of strategy

Patna. A big change has been seen in the politics of Bihar. After the resignation of Nitish Kumar from the post of Chief Minister, a new government has been formed in the state under the leadership of NDA. In this new arrangement, BJP’s Samrat Choudhary has created history by assuming the post of Chief Minister, while senior JDU leader Vijay Kumar Chaudhary has been made the Deputy Chief Minister. Along with him, Bijendra Prasad Yadav has also taken oath as Deputy CM.

Vijay Chaudhary becoming the Deputy Chief Minister is not just a distribution of posts, but a part of a well-thought-out political strategy. He has been an important member of Nitish Kumar’s core team for a long time and is considered a reliable strategist of the party. Despite BJP becoming the Chief Minister, JDU has given a clear indication of maintaining its hold on power and administration by appointing two of its strong faces on the post of Deputy Chief Minister.

Vijay Kumar Chaudhary is recognized as a simple-minded, intellectual and leader with deep knowledge of parliamentary procedures. He always believes in working by staying away from controversies, which makes him different from other leaders.

Born on 8 January 1957 in Dalsinghsarai in Samastipur district, Vijay Chaudhary comes from a Bhumihar Brahmin family. His father Jagdish Prasad Chaudhary was a freedom fighter and senior Congress leader, who was a three-time MLA. Vijay Chaudhary did his MA in History from Patna University in 1979 and then started working as a Probationary Officer in the State Bank of India. However, after the death of his father, he left his job and entered politics and became MLA for the first time on Congress ticket in 1982.

After being active in Congress from 1985 to 1990, he held various responsibilities in the party for a long time. He joined JDU in the year 2005 and since then has remained a close associate of Nitish Kumar. Presently he represents Sarairanjan assembly constituency of Samastipur.

In his political career, Vijay Chaudhary has held the responsibility of many important departments like education, finance, water resources, rural development, commercial tax and parliamentary affairs. He has also been the Speaker of Bihar Assembly and is considered an expert in effectively presenting the government’s side in the House.

His role in the new government makes it clear that even though JDU may not be on the post of Chief Minister, its role still remains decisive in the administration of power.
