Patna. There is going to be an important change in the police system in Bihar to further improve the disposal of complaints related to children and women. Preparations are on to start child help desks in all the police stations of the state from October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. For this, the Police Headquarters has issued necessary instructions to the SSP and SP of all the districts.
Separate system for children's complaints
Under the new system, complaints and demands for assistance related to minor children will be heard on priority. The desk will be made at such a place in the police station where children and their parents can easily reach. It will be kept separate from the police lockup, so that the environment remains more comfortable for the children.
The names, designations and mobile numbers of the Child Welfare Police Officer and District Child Protection Officer will be clearly displayed on the desk. These contact numbers will remain active 24 hours. After receiving the complaint, action will be taken within the stipulated time and its record will also be kept safe.
Female policemen in girls' cases
Women police personnel will also be deputed as per requirement in cases involving minor girls. The Child Help Desk will be monitored by the DSP in-charge of the Special Juvenile Police Unit and senior district level officers. The police headquarters has also sought compliance reports from the districts by October 5.
Women help desk also in police stations
There is already a provision of women's help desk for the complaints of women in the police stations of Bihar. Here the problems related to women are heard and solved. Later, complaints related to the transgender community have also been directed to be heard through these desks. Trained women policemen have been deployed for this.
