In Delhi's Nihal Vihar, an argument between a husband and wife over giving medicine to their child took a horrifying turn within a short time. It is alleged that the wife returned home with her parents after about 10 minutes and started fighting with her software engineer husband Vinay Gupta. The family claims that in the attack he was beaten badly and along with strangulation, he was also stabbed on the chest. When taken to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead.
Vinay's family has accused 6-7 people including wife Rekha of attack and claimed that the CCTVs of the house were also switched off. The police have so far arrested Rekha, her two brothers and another accused in the case. The forensic team has collected evidence from the spot and the police is investigating the entire matter under relevant sections of BNS.
How did the controversy start?
According to Vinay's mother, before the incident there was an argument between the husband and wife over giving medicine to one of their twins. The family claims that Vinay spoke to Rekha in a slightly raised voice, due to which she got angry and went out of the house. According to the family, after about 10 minutes Rekha returned with some people from her maternal house. These included his two brothers, a sister-in-law, father, uncle and one other person. It is alleged that after coming into the house, these people surrounded Vinay and started beating him.
How did the attack happen inside the house?
Vinay's family alleges that the attackers beat him continuously. Pressure was put on his throat and he was hit with hands and feet on his chest. The parents intervened and tried to save their son, but the attack reportedly did not stop. The family says that when Rekha's parents reached home, Vinay even brought water for them. Meanwhile, his mother had also gone to arrange water and other things for the guests. The family claims that during this time Vinay was attacked.
Also accused of switching off CCTV
Vinay's family members have alleged that the incident was pre-planned and the CCTV cameras of the house were switched off. According to the family, in the footage Rekha is seen in red clothes and her sister-in-law in blue clothes. Rekha's two brothers, father and another person have been claimed to be seen near the car.
Neighbor took me to hospital
Vinay was not able to stand on his own after the assault. According to the family, a neighbor brought him outside carrying him on his shoulders and made him sit on a chair. After this he was taken to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead. Vinay was a software engineer at Adobe in Noida. According to the family, his annual package was around Rs 60 lakh. He was married to Rekha about three and a half years ago and they both have twin children.
What action did the police take?
Police have arrested wife Rekha, her two brothers and another accused. The forensic team also investigated to collect evidence from the spot. A case has been registered under section 103(1) and 3(5) of BNS. Vinay's family has accused six-seven people including his wife of conspiracy to murder. The police are currently interrogating the arrested accused and the role of other people is also being investigated.
