NITI Aayog has emerged as an important pillar of the country’s policy-making system: PM Modi

New Delhi, 25 April. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that NITI Aayog has emerged as an important pillar of the country’s policy-making system. It is playing an important role in promoting cooperative federalism, pursuing reforms and promoting ‘ease of living’.

Congratulating Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri on the appointment of Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri as the Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog and other full-time members, he said that this institution is working as a dynamic platform for innovation and long-term strategy making in different sectors.

While sharing a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, ‘The government has reorganized the NITI Aayog. My best wishes to Ashok Kumar Lahiri on becoming the Vice President. Also Rajeev Gauba, Prof. Of. V. Raju, Prof. Gobardhan Das, Prof. Congratulations to Abhay Karandikar and Dr. M. Srinivas on becoming full-time members. PM Modi wished everyone good luck for their tenure and said that they should complete their effective and result-yielding tenure.

PM Modi also met Lahiri and congratulated him on becoming the Vice President. He said Lahiri’s experience in economics and public policy will further strengthen reforms in India and help towards the goal of a ‘developed India’. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that his efforts will make the country’s policy-making process more dynamic.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Ashok Kumar Lahiri is an experienced policy maker and before this he has also served as the 12th Chief Economic Advisor of India. He has also been a member of the 15th Finance Commission and has held senior positions in international institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. He has also been associated with several leading academic and policy institutions, including the Delhi School of Economics, the Asian Development Bank and the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy.
