Noida: Chilla-Sector 94 elevated road will be higher
The height of the proposed elevated road from Chilla to Sector-94 in Noida has been increased. The DPR has been amended to allow crossing of metro line and high tension power line, which is likely to increase the cost of the project.
Noida: Important changes have been made in the proposed Chilla-Sector 94 elevated road project to reduce traffic pressure in the city and improve Delhi-Noida connectivity. Its height has been increased to pass over the metro corridor and high tension power line. Due to this, a revised DPR of the project is being prepared and the cost is also expected to increase.
Elevated road will pass over the metro line
The proposed elevated road project from Chilla to Sector-94 in Noida is among the major infrastructure projects of the city. Under the plan, this route will cross the metro line above Okhla Bird Sanctuary. Earlier the height of this part was fixed at about 4 meters, but considering the technical requirements, it has been decided to increase it to 12 meters.
According to officials, it is necessary to maintain adequate safety distance due to the already existing high tension power line above the metro line. For this reason, the design of the project has been changed and the DPR is being revised.
The entire design will change due to increase in height
It is not possible to increase the height suddenly in any elevated road. To maintain the slope and structural balance of the road, height has to be increased gradually at both the front and rear. For this reason, changes made at one point affect the entire project.
According to the information, the height of the road will be increased in a portion of about 800 meters. This will affect the design and construction plan of the entire 1.5 kilometer long proposed route. The structure is being rebuilt keeping in mind the new height as per engineering standards.
The cost of the project may increase
This elevated road was planned to be developed at an estimated cost of about Rs 150 crore. However, the cost of the project is likely to increase following increase in height and changes in design. A clear assessment of the new budget will emerge only after the preparation of the revised DPR.
This route will start from the end of the existing Chilla Elevated Road and will reach Sector-94. With its completion, traffic between Delhi and Noida is expected to become more convenient. It will also help in reducing traffic pressure on major routes.
The process will start after the DPR is finalized
According to Noida Authority officials, work on the revised DPR of the project is going on. The report will be finalized after incorporating technical changes. After this the tender process will be started and the agency will be selected for the construction work.
The authority believes that after the completion of the project, Noida’s transport network will be strengthened and passengers traveling to and from Delhi will benefit from better connectivity. This elevated road is considered to be one of the important projects being developed keeping in mind the future traffic needs.
