Noida: A shocking incident has emerged from Greater Noida West. Three men posing as policemen held a GST consultant hostage for nearly seven hours and extorted ₹29 lakh from him, threatening to implicate him in a fake encounter. The victim alleges that the accused also threatened to kill him. The FIR has been registered nearly 19 days after the incident.
SUV Blocks Road While Enroute to Office
According to reports, GST consultant Sandeep Kumar was driving his car on the morning of July 20th. An SUV overtook his car near Aspire Society in Greater Noida West. It is alleged that the three occupants of the SUV were wearing police uniforms.
According to the victim, these men, citing a complaint, forced him into their vehicle. The accused then drove him around several locations and held him hostage in the car for nearly seven hours.
First demanded 50 lakh rupees, then settled for 29 lakh rupees
The victim alleges that the accused threatened to implicate him in a fake encounter and kill him. Initially, they demanded 50 lakh rupees. When he expressed his inability to pay such a large sum, the accused contacted his brother living in Delhi.
The victim’s brother then arrived at the Greater Noida Expressway with his friends. The GST consultant was reportedly released after paying 29 lakh rupees.
Called 112 after release
The victim stated that upon reaching home, he immediately called 112 and informed the police about the incident. Police arrived at the scene, took him to the relevant police station, and initiated the process of filing a complaint.
The victim alleges that he also collected evidence related to the case and submitted it to the police. This includes CCTV footage from the Jewar toll plaza, the McDonald’s in Knowledge Park, and other locations. He claims that the accused are visible in the footage.
19 Days After FIR, Five Teams Investigate
Following the FIR being filed, the police have launched an investigation. According to reports, five police teams have been deployed. Police are identifying the accused and examining CCTV footage and other facts related to the incident.
However, the police have not yet definitively confirmed the complainant’s allegations. According to the Bisrakh police station in-charge, there are discrepancies between the complainant’s version of events and some facts revealed during the investigation. The police say that every aspect of the case is being investigated and further legal action will be taken based on the facts that emerge during the investigation.
The victim collected evidence himself
Sandeep Kumar says that after the incident, several police officers questioned him, but an FIR was not registered for a considerable period. During this time, he personally collected CCTV footage from various locations and provided it to the police.
The police are currently investigating the case. The entire picture of the case will become clear only after the investigation into the identification of the accused, the alleged extortion of Rs 29 lakh, and the allegations of posing as policemen.
