Reliance Industries (RIL) is all set to take a giant leap into the energy sector. The company’s CMD Mukesh Ambani gave this indication at the 49th Annual General Meeting of RIL. After the division of Dhirubhai Ambani’s empire in 2005, the energy and telecom sectors came to Anil Ambani. Later, Mukesh Ambani also entered the telecom sector. His entry into the Jio company shook the entire telecom industry. Now, the same will be expected from them for the energy sector as well.
A complete solution for the power sector
Mukesh Ambani unveiled his complete plans for the energy sector at the annual general meeting. He said, “Now I am turning to one of Reliance’s business areas, which is both the oldest and the newest. Energy is the fundamental foundation of civilization, which drives the progress of humanity.” He said, “Since its inception in Jamnagar, Reliance has been fully committed to making India self-reliant in the energy sector. I believe that India is on the cusp of an ‘energy megacycle’, where energy demand across all sectors will grow exponentially over the next decade.”
Important Statement by Chiefs
Mukesh Ambani said India still depends on external sources for more than 70% of its energy needs. Not only is this costly, it also exposes India to geopolitical instability. According to him, it is clear that this is not sustainable in the long run. “We consider it our duty to ensure that India’s future never succumbs to energy shortages or insecurity,” he said.
Ambani revealed the whole plan
Reliance is working on the most comprehensive, integrated and visionary plan to augment India’s energy resources in all possible ways. These include solar, batteries, wind power, hydrogen, underground coal gasification (UCG), compressed biogas (CBG) and bioenergy.
Its sole objective is to ensure that India meets almost all its energy needs in the most abundant, cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner. “I believe this will be the most appropriate contribution to the Prime Minister’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative. Abundant green energy will help India become a leader in green AI, green chemicals and materials, green fuels, green employment and green exports,” he said.
Anant Ambani expressed confidence
Anant M, who heads Reliance’s energy business. Ambani called the company’s new energy business an important part of Reliance’s next big growth journey. He said at the company’s 49th Annual General Meeting that the new energy business will start contributing significantly to Reliance’s financial performance from the financial year 2026-27. Commercial revenue from solar modules will start this year and the battery factory will also be commissioned this year. Ananth Ambani said, “New energy will start contributing significantly to Reliance’s financial performance from the financial year 2026-27.
