Odisha Vigilance nabs Police ASI and Home Guard Driver for taking bribe Rs 50,000 to return mobile phones
Bhubaneswar: Rajesh Kullu, the Mancheswar Police Station ASI and Jyoti Ranjan Behera, Home Guard Driver have been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance for demanding and taking a bribe.
According to reports, Vigilance nabs the duo while they were taking bribe of Rs 20,000 from a person for returning 2 mobile phones and to help him in a case of which Kullu was the Investigating Officer. Earlier on June 12, the ASI had taken Rs 30,000 from the person and returned one mobile phone to him.
Today, when the person requested the accused ASI Kullu to return the other mobile phone, he directed him to pay the demanded bribe Rs 20,000 to Home Guard driver and to collect the mobile phone from him. This tempted the person (complainant) to report the matter to vigilance authorities.
On this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed, today, both the accused persons Kullu and Behera while taking bribe Rs 20,000 from the complainant. The tainted bribe money Rs 20,000 was recovered and seized from them.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at two locations of ASI Kullu from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No. 10 dtd 16.06.2026 u/s 7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused ASI and Home Guard Driver. Detailed report follows.
