Napoli have officially confirmed that club captain and Italy international Giovanni Di Lorenzo has penned a new long-term contract extension, which will see him through until the summer of 2030.

Official: Di Lorenzo commits to Napoli until the age of 36

Di Lorenzo is now into his eighth season with the Partenopei, having joined in an €8m deal from Empoli in the summer of 2019. He has since gone on to make 307 appearances for the club, including 240 in Serie A. He currently ranks 12th on the list of all-time Napoli appearance makers.

Di Lorenzo’s previous contract had been due to expire in the summer of 2028, having penned a five-year extension back in 2023.

Now 33, Di Lorenzo has been rewarded with a new four-year deal, which will see him through until the age of 36 if he sees out the full length of his contract at the Stadio Maradona.

The Napoli and Italy right-back has played the full 90 minutes for both of his side’s first two matches of the Serie A season, which resulted in a 2-0 win over Genoa and a 2-1 loss against the ambitious Como, leaving them in 10th place in the league table at the beginning of September.
