Tezzbuzz Desk- The festival of Diwali seems incomplete without sweets. On this occasion, people prepare different types of dishes at home and share happiness by feeding each other sweets. However, many people are worried about the quality and freshness of the sweets available in the market. In such a situation, making sweets at home can be a good option. If you also want to make something easy and tasty this Diwali, then definitely try coconut laddus.

The specialty of this recipe is that neither mawa has to be used nor sugar syrup has to be prepared. Cream and milk give the laddus a soft texture, while desi sugar increases their sweetness. Let us know the easy method of making coconut laddus.

Ingredients required to make coconut laddus

To prepare coconut laddus, you will need some simple ingredients.

  • Fresh raw coconut – 500 grams.
  • Desi ghee – 1 tbsp.
  • Cream – 1 bowl.
  • Full cream milk – 2 cups.
  • Desi Khand – 1 cup.
  • Milk powder – 30 grams.
  • Cardamom powder – as desired.
  • Finely chopped dry fruits – as desired.

Prepare coconut laddus like this

First of all, take fresh raw coconut and remove its hard peel and outer fibers. Wash the coconut thoroughly and cut it into small pieces. Now grind these pieces coarsely in a mixer without adding water. If you want, you can also use grated coconut.

After this, heat one tablespoon of desi ghee in a pan. Add ground coconut to it and fry it on medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes while stirring continuously. This will reduce the rawness of the coconut and its excess milk will gradually dry up.

Now put one bowl of cream and two cups of full cream milk in the pan. Mix the mixture well and cook while stirring continuously, so that it does not stick to the bottom of the pan. Cook the milk and cream until the mixture thickens and the excess moisture evaporates. If you want to make laddus in less time, you can use only cream instead of milk. However, the texture of the laddus may be slightly different.

When the mixture starts thickening, add one cup of desi khand to it and mix well. If you do not have desi sugar, you can also use sugar candy powder or sugar powder as per taste. Now cook the mixture while stirring continuously, until it thickens well and the excess moisture is almost gone.

After this add about 30 grams of milk powder and mix well. This will help in giving the mixture a texture suitable for making laddus. To enhance the taste, you can also add some cardamom powder and finely chopped cashews, almonds or other dry fruits of your choice.

When the mixture is ready, take out a small portion, cool it and try to make laddus with your hands. If the mixture binds easily and its shape is formed, then understand that it is ready. If the mixture is too soft, cook it for some more time.

Now take out the prepared mixture in a greased plate and let it cool a little. When the mixture remains slightly warm and can be handled with hands, apply some ghee on the palms and make desired size laddus from the mixture.

In this way your delicious and soft coconut laddus will be ready. Cool them completely and keep them in a clean, dry and airtight container. Being made of milk and cream, it is better to keep them in the refrigerator rather than keeping them at room temperature for a long time. This Diwali, enhance the sweetness of the festival with homemade coconut laddus and enjoy their taste with your family.
