On normal days, the fare from Delhi to Mumbai is costlier than from Patna, the picture changes on Diwali.

On normal days, air travel to Mumbai is costlier than traveling from Delhi to Patna. A ticket from Delhi to Mumbai usually remains around Rs 5 to 6 thousand, while the fare to Patna comes down to Rs 4 to 4.5 thousand. This picture changes completely during Diwali and Chhath. Due to increase in the number of passengers going to Bihar, the airfare from Delhi to Patna starts skyrocketing.

This year too, around Diwali and Chhath, the flight fare from Delhi to Patna has crossed Rs 14 thousand to Rs 18 thousand. At the same time, the ticket from Delhi to Mumbai is available for around Rs 6 thousand.

Statistics show that on normal days, air travel to Mumbai is more expensive than to Patna, but during festivals, air travel to Patna becomes many times more expensive than Mumbai. Last year too, around Diwali and Chhath, ticket prices on the Delhi-Patna route had reached Rs 24 thousand. Let us understand from this data.

Same situation existed last year also

Last year also there was a huge increase in flight fares from Delhi to Patna during Diwali and Chhath. On many dates around festivals in October 2025, tickets had reached above Rs 10,000. On October 17, the fare was recorded at around Rs 19 thousand and on October 18 it was recorded up to Rs 24 thousand. Whereas, the minimum fare on October 23 was Rs 11,016 and on October 24, it was Rs 11,957.

Due to increase in the number of passengers returning to Bihar during festivals, the demand for flights on the Delhi-Patna route increases. When seats become scarce, ticket prices also increase rapidly. This is the reason why Delhi-Patna air travel, which is cheap on normal days, becomes much more expensive than Delhi-Mumbai during Diwali and Chhath.
