Tezzbuzz Desk- After the police custody of Swatantra Bhardwaj, accused in the case of alleged assault with Nishu Azad's father Sanjay, ended on Sunday, he was produced in Patiala House Court through video conferencing. The court has sent Swatantra Bhardwaj to judicial custody for one day. Now he will be presented in the court again on Monday. Police may further demand his remand.
This case is related to the alleged fight that took place during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on June 23. It is alleged that during the protest, Nishu Azad's father Sanjay was assaulted. A complaint was lodged with the police regarding the incident. Later, the matter again came into discussion after a video related to Swatantra Bhardwaj and his alleged statements surfaced.
The arrest was made from Bulandshahr
Delhi Police had arrested Swatantra Bhardwaj from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. After his arrest, he was produced in the court, where he was given one day's police custody. During this time, the police is investigating the facts and allegations related to the case.
In this case, it has come to light that other sections including SC/ST Act will also be added later. Earlier, there was also a demonstration outside the Parliament Street police station demanding Swatantra's arrest. At the same time, supporters of Swatantra Bhardwaj also demonstrated demanding his release and accused him of being wrongly implicated.
Lawyer raised questions on police action
Swatantra Bhardwaj's lawyer Piyush Jain raised questions on the appearance through video conferencing. He alleges that the police do not want to face the questions of the media and lawyers, hence the accused is being produced in the court through video conferencing.
On the other hand, questions have also been raised from Nishu Azad regarding the police action in the case. Nishu has demanded safety of his family. He shared the video on social media and alleged that stones were thrown at his house during the night. He has appealed to Delhi and Ghaziabad Police to provide security.
Now the next hearing to be held on Monday will be under watch. There is a possibility of the police demanding further remand in the court, while it may be opposed by the accused party.
