New Delhi: The impact of the recent cyclone Arnab had not completely subsided when another new disaster of nature hit the eastern coast of India. A deep depression in the south-western part of the Bay of Bengal has now transformed into a cyclonic storm ‘Murasu’ and is rapidly moving towards the coastal areas. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this cyclone may hit the coast of Andhra Pradesh on November 3, due to which there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in many parts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
In view of the danger, the local administration and meteorological department have issued a high alert in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. In view of the danger of this storm, which is currently about 660 kilometers away from Visakhapatnam, the work of evacuating people from sensitive areas to safe places has been started.
Interestingly, the name of this cyclone ‘Murasu’ is derived from the ancient language of Tamil Nadu, which literally means ‘drum’ or ‘war drum’. In ancient times, Murasu was played for victory or any big announcement. This name has been taken from the list proposed by India under the naming system of cyclones of the Indian Ocean region. The priority of the administration at present is that all concrete arrangements should be made in time so that any kind of loss of life can be prevented.
