The politics of the state has heated up after the statement given by Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (Subhashpa) chief and cabinet minister in Uttar Pradesh government Om Prakash Rajbhar regarding reservation. Senior leader and spokesperson of Indian National Congress Surendra Rajput has given a very sharp and attacking statement on Om Prakash Rajbhar.
Responding to OP Rajbhar's comments regarding changes in the reservation system, Congress's Surendra Rajput said that OP Rajbhar has gone mad by being in the company of anti-reservationists (BJP) and is now in dire need of medicine. He said that reservation in the Indian Constitution was given for the upliftment of social status and justice. Rajbhar challenged Rajbhar and said that if you want to leave reservation then you should leave, but why should others leave? You have become completely anti-reservation. Sangh and BJP were already against it, but now OP Rajbhar has also started joining their voice. While advising Rajbhar to get his mind treated, he reminded that reservation is a very sensitive issue of social justice.
Let us tell you that while reacting to a statement given by Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, Om Prakash Rajbhar had said that those who have made their place in the mainstream of the society, they should now be kept out of the scope of reservation.
What else did Rajbhar say about reservation?
Responding to Ramdas Athawale's statement, Rajbhar had said that perhaps he should also look at the recent decision of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has talked about the concept of 'quota within quota' (sub-quota). The Constitution recognizes mainly four categories and all have the right to reservation; But despite this, at present only those people are taking advantage of it who have already reached a good and strong position in the society. Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar started reservation to uplift the downtrodden people of the society and include them in the mainstream of development.
Taking his point further, Rajbhar had said that but today the children of DM, SP, DIG, IG, DGP, Governor, Chief Minister and even the President are taking advantage of these reservation facilities. He stressed that the first thing that needs to be kept in mind is that those people who have taken advantage of reservation and have made a strong place in the mainstream of society and system, should be thrown out of this system.
