A parking attendant at Gurugram’s Magnum Global Park has been accused of assaulting a former soldier of Operation Safed Sagar. According to the complaint, the employee attacked Group Captain Amit Kumar Gupta (retd) with an iron rod, causing serious head injury and fracture in his hand. He has also accused the employee of threatening to kill him. The ex-serviceman alleges that despite the complaint, the police did not help him. He has also accused the hospital of giving wrong medical report. What did the former soldier allege? Amit Kumar Gupta, a former soldier of Operation Safed Sagar, who was part of the Indian Air Force’s ‘Operation Safed Sagar’ team in 1999. In his complaint, he said that he left his family at around 8 pm and started looking for a place to park his car. But the parking staff sent him to different places – valet parking, basement parking and multilevel parking – and finally refused to park his car. At one point when he tried to reverse his car, the parking attendant allegedly hit him in an attempt to break his windshield. Even threatened to kill: Speaking to NDTV, he said, ‘When I came out of the car and protested, the employee came with an iron rod and hit me twice, once on my hand and then on my head. I was drenched in blood. He also told that the accused had also threatened to kill him. Police also delayed in helping, apart from this he said that security personnel and other parking staff did not come forward to help during the attack. Despite calling the police helpline, no help was received for about half an hour. Eventually a chef intervened and saved his life. After serious injuries, he was taken to Medanta Hospital, where elbow surgery was performed.
