OPPO K15s and K15x Launch in China: Specs, Price and Battery

OPPO has expanded its K-series in China with the K15s and K15x, two new smartphones that put battery capacity and physical durability ahead of flagship-level specifications. The K15s is the more premium model, combining an 8,000mAh battery with a 120Hz AMOLED display, the Dimensity 6360 Max chipset, and multiple protection ratings. The K15x follows the same general approach with a 6,500mAh battery, a 120Hz LCD, and a Dimensity 6300 processor. Both models have launched in China, with no confirmed India launch or India pricing announced in the current reports.

OPPO K15s Puts the 8,000mAh Battery Front and Centre

The K15s packs an 8,000mAh typical-capacity battery, with a rated capacity of 7,820mAh, and supports 45W SuperVOOC charging. OPPO says the battery can withstand more than 2,000 charge-discharge cycles, with laboratory testing simulating roughly seven years of use and retaining at least 80% of its capacity under the stated conditions.

The K15s is paired with a 6.57-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display. The panel has a 2372 × 1080 resolution and can reach up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness.

The K15s therefore combines the larger battery with an AMOLED display and higher protection ratings, while the K15x brings a 6,500mAh battery and IP64 protection at a lower price.

IP69K Protection Makes the K15s More Than a Big-Battery Phone

The K15s lists IP69K, IP69, IP68, and IP66 protection, covering different levels of resistance to dust and water under their respective testing conditions. The phone has also reportedly undergone 15 environmental tests under the GJB150A-2009 framework.

These claims refer to specific testing conditions and do not make the K15s an industrial or military device. OPPO also uses what it calls a Diamond anti-drop architecture, intended to improve structural resistance when the phone is subjected to impacts.

Together, these features place battery capacity and durability at the centre of the K15s’ design.

The K15x Brings the Formula Down in Price

The OPPO K15x follows the same general strategy but uses lower-tier hardware in several areas. Its battery is rated at 6,500mAh typical capacity, with a 6,350mAh rated capacity, and it also supports 45W SuperVOOC charging. OPPO says the battery has undergone 1,800 charge-discharge cycles and can retain at least 80% capacity after a simulated six years of use under its stated testing conditions. The K15x gets a 6.75-inch 120Hz display, making it physically larger than the K15s ‘ screen. However, it uses an HD+ LCD. The K15x offers a larger display, while the K15s provides a higher-resolution AMOLED screen.

Performance and Cameras Follow the Same Divide

The K15s runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6360 Max, paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It is available with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, while a 4,300mm² VC cooling system is used for thermal management. The K15x uses the Dimensity 6300, with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The camera systems also differ. The K15s has a 50MP rear main camera with autofocus and an 8MP front camera. The K15x uses a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera.

The K15x therefore makes compromises in the display, processor, and cameras while retaining a large battery, 45W charging, and durability features.

Both Phones Keep 45W Charging.

OPPO has retained 45W charging on both models. The K15s has a larger battery, while the K15x uses a 6,500mAh cell. Both phones also support UFCS charging according to current reporting. The shared charging specification gives the two models a similar charging feature set despite their differences in battery capacity and other hardware.

The K15s and K15x are not simply the same phone with different battery capacities. The K15s adds a higher-resolution AMOLED display, stronger cameras, a different processor configuration, and more extensive water and dust protection. The K15x retains the battery-focused approach at a lower price, with a larger LCD, simpler cameras, and IP64 protection.

OPPO K15s and K15x Prices in China

OPPO has listed the phones at the following regular prices in China:

**Configuration ** **Regular price ** **Promotional price **
**OPPO K15s ** 6GB + 128GB CNY 1,999 CNY 1,699
**OPPO K15s ** 8GB + 256GB CNY 2,999 CNY 1,999
OPPO K15x 6GB + 128GB CNY 1,699 CNY 1,399
OPPO K15x 6GB + 256GB CNY 1,999 CNY 1,699

The promotional prices reflect a CNY 300 discount available during the initial selling period from September 30 through October 31, according to current reporting. This means the CNY 1,699 price applies to the K15s 6GB + 128GB model only during the promotional period, while CNY 1,999 is its regular listed price. Similarly, the K15x 6GB + 128GB model has a regular price of CNY 1,699 and a promotional price of CNY 1,399. The 8GB + 256GB K15s and 6GB + 256GB K15x models also receive the same CNY 300 reduction during the promotional period.

No Confirmed India Launch Yet

The K15s and K15x have launched in China, and current reporting does not confirm an India launch date or Indian pricing for either model. It would therefore be premature to convert the Chinese prices directly into Indian prices or suggest that either phone is headed to India based solely on the China launch. OPPO’s K-series naming and configurations can also differ between markets, so an eventual international version cannot automatically be assumed to have the same specifications.

OPPO Is Making Battery and Durability the K15 Story

The K15s and K15x place large batteries and durability features at the centre of OPPO’s latest K-series launch.

  • The K15s combines an 8,000mAh battery, 45W charging, a 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display and IP69K/IP69/IP68/IP66 protection. It also includes a Diamond anti-drop architecture and has reportedly undergone 15 environmental tests under the GJB150A-2009 framework.
  • The K15x uses a 6,500mAh battery, 45W charging, a 120Hz HD+ LCD, and IP64 protection at a lower price. It also uses the Diamond anti-drop architecture, while its camera, display, and processor specifications are more modest.

For now, the story is firmly a China launch. Whether OPPO eventually brings either model to other markets remains unconfirmed.
