The opposition staged a unique protest in the Parliament complex on Friday over the alleged donation irregularities at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, arrived at the Makar Dwar of Parliament House dressed as a saint, and a donation box was placed in front of him. Several opposition MPs, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, also made symbolic donations.
During the protest, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav placed a donation box near Pappu Yadav, who was dressed as a saint. Rahul Gandhi and other opposition MPs then poured money into the box. After a while, Pappu Yadav pocketed the money. The opposition claimed the protest was a symbolic gesture to highlight allegations of alleged donation irregularities.
Through this protest, opposition parties demanded a parliamentary discussion and accountability regarding the alleged Ram Temple offerings. During the protest, opposition MPs also raised slogans and urged the issue to be taken seriously.
Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad said that Ayodhya is the sacred land of Lord Shri Ram, and if any irregularities have occurred there, the issue will be raised both in Parliament and among the public. He said that his party will continue to demand a discussion on the matter.
SP MP Dharmendra Yadav alleged serious irregularities in the collection and handling of donations from devotees. He claimed the protest was purely symbolic and aimed at drawing the government’s attention to the alleged irregularities. He also reiterated his demand for a detailed discussion of the matter in Parliament.
In addition to the Ram Temple offering controversy, opposition MPs also raised the issue of police action during student protests in Delhi. They demanded answers from the government regarding the students injured during the protests and reiterated their demand for Home Minister Amit Shah’s resignation.
Currently, political rhetoric has intensified both inside and outside Parliament regarding the Ram Temple offerings controversy. The opposition is demanding a discussion on the matter, while the government is awaiting an official response.
