Opposition’s attack on LPG price increase: Sharad Pawar said – Government will have to pay the price, Kharge also expressed displeasure

LPG Price Hike : The central government has increased the prices of domestic LPG cylinders by Rs 29 late on Saturday night. Earlier on March 7 also, the prices of domestic gas cylinders were increased by Rs 60. According to media reports, after the new increase, the price of LPG cylinder in Delhi has increased to Rs 942 from June 7.

Opposition parties have started raising questions on the government regarding the continuous increase in prices. Many leaders including Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar have criticized this decision.

Questions on fuel supply and rural access

Mallikarjun Kharge posted on social media platform He also raised questions on the statements made in Parliament in which diversification of fuel supply was talked about. He also expressed concern about the availability of LPG in rural areas.

Question on Ujjwala scheme

Kharge also said that under the Ujjwala scheme, crores of families did not refill the cylinder even once in the last year, while a large number of families did not use it completely.

Questions on profits of oil companies

At the same time, Congress MP Manish Tiwari also reacted to the price increase and said that when oil marketing companies are earning good profits, then what is the justification for increasing the prices of LPG again and again. He said that government oil companies have registered significant profits in the financial year 2025-26 and an increase in their earnings has been seen even on a quarterly basis.

On the other hand, Samajwadi Party MP Rajiv Rai criticized this decision and said that relief is given to the public during the election time, but as soon as the elections are over, the prices are increased. He raised questions on the government’s policy and called it a system without clear direction and strategy.
