New York. A very painful road accident has occurred in Ohio state of America. On the Interstate 480 (I-480) highway, a pickup truck lost control, broke the center divider and hit a car coming from the opposite direction. In this massive head-on collision, the 26-year-old Indian software engineer driving the car died on the spot, while three other people in the vehicle were seriously injured. After investigation, the deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Bungatavula, a resident of Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. He was recently working in a software company after completing his studies from 'Kent State University'.

Details of the accident
According to the local police and media reports, Dilip Kumar was going in his sedan car when a speeding pickup truck coming from the other side crossed the divider in the middle of the road and tore Dilip's car to pieces. The collision was so strong that Dilip died on the spot. Three other injured people present in the car were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Dilip was the only support of the farmer family
Let us tell you that Dilip's father Srihari Bungatvula is an ordinary farmer in Andhra Pradesh. Going beyond their financial limits, the family took a loan and sent Dilip to America for higher education (MSc). Last year in 2025, after completing his Masters from Kent State University, Dilip got a job and was trying to pay off his debts and support his family. There is a wave of mourning in the entire village and family due to his untimely death.

Indian Embassy and Telugu community extended a helping hand
The Consulate General of India in New York has expressed deep sorrow over this incident. Embassy officials said that they are in constant touch with the local administration and the victim's family, so that the legal procedures can be completed soon and Dilip's mortal remains can be sent to India. At the same time, North America Telugu Society (NATS) has stepped in to help the family financially in this difficult time. The organization has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support Dilip's parents and repay his education loan. Currently, the local highway police have registered an FIR in the matter and are investigating further by interrogating the pickup truck driver to find out the exact cause of the accident.
