After this explosion near the mosque in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, there was chaos all around. In the initial reports, the number of dead was reported to be low, but later the figure increased. According to latest reports, at least 15 people have died, while more than 50 people are said to be injured.

Where did the explosion occur?

This horrific incident happened on Friday, September 18 in Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The blast took place in the vicinity of the mosque located near the old Police Lines Complex. According to police and relief agencies, a large number of people were present in the mosque for Friday prayers at the time of the incident. The intensity of the blast can be gauged from the fact that the outer part of the mosque was badly damaged and a wall also collapsed. Relief and rescue operations were immediately started at the incident site.

How many people died and how many were injured in the blast?

In the initial information that came out immediately after the blast, it was said that about 8 people had died. After this the number of dead increased to 15. In the latest APA news agency reports, there is a possibility of more than 15 people being killed. Information has come to light that more than 50 people were injured in the blast. The injured were taken to nearby health centers including the District Headquarters Hospital in Kohad. Emergency was declared in the hospital and arrangements were made for the treatment of seriously injured.

Initial investigation by Pakistani officials has revealed the use of an explosive laden vehicle. Police cordoned off the incident site and stopped movement on the surrounding roads. At present no organization has taken responsibility for the attack. In some reports, suspicion has been raised on Pakistani Taliban i.e. TTP. But its official confirmation has not been done yet.
