Bhopal. The Panchayat and Rural Development Department of the state has not yet been able to submit action regarding the instructions of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav that milk supply should be started in mid-day meal in Madhya Pradesh from October 2026. The department has still kept its proceedings pending with itself. It is noteworthy that Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Deora had announced Yashoda Milk Supply Scheme while presenting the general budget in the Assembly on 18 February 2026.
Under this, for the purpose of providing additional nutrition to children up to class 8th, a provision has been made to distribute milk packets in tetra packs to 80 lakh students. For this, a provision of Rs 700 crore has also been made in the current budget. A total of Rs 6,600 crore will be spent on this scheme for the next five years. The nodal agency of the mid-day meal program in the state is the Panchayat and Rural Development Department.
