Since the flood, many cases of snake bites have been reported in hospitals in the area. A villager told that while removing debris from the lower floor of his house, he was bitten by a cobra. Separate reports said one person also died due to snake bite. Officials say that snakes displaced by floods often look for safe places and due to this, conflicts with humans increase.

This incident of snakes escaping has happened amid China’s worst flood. Typhoon Maysak caused rainfall of more than 90 cm in some places in Guangxi. Reservoirs and dams broke, sending torrents of water flowing into towns and villages. At least 39 people have died so far in Guangxi.

The dam breach in Nanning city alone took the lives of 26 people. More than 1 lakh 30 thousand people have been evacuated to safe places. Thousands of personnel, boats and drones have been deployed for rescue. The weather affected other provinces also. There have also been deaths in central China due to landslides, storms and tornadoes.
