Became the fourth player in the world to hit 100 sixes
Gaul. Aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant on Tuesday became the first Indian and fourth player in the world to achieve the distinguished feat of hitting 100 sixes in Test cricket on the fourth day of the first Test against Sri Lanka.
Pant made a record of hitting 100 sixes in his 51st match. In this way, he became the player to hit 100 sixes in the least number of matches in Test cricket. Former England captain Ben Stokes achieved this milestone in his 82nd Test.
Before Pant, Stokes (138 sixes), New Zealand's Brendon McCullum (107 sixes) and Australia's wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist (100 sixes) had achieved the distinct feat of hitting 100 sixes in Test cricket.
Before the start of the match, Pant had 97 sixes in his name. He equaled Chris Gayle's record of 98 sixes in the first innings. Among Indian batsmen, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma are jointly second with 91 sixes.
