Paperless registry implemented in Bihar, great news for land owners!

Patna: The process of registering land and house in Bihar has now become more digital than before. Paperless registry system has been implemented in the state from August 17, 2026. Under the new system, most of the work related to registry will be online and dependence on paper documents will be reduced.

Now registration will be done digitally

Under the new system, documents for purchase and sale of land or house can be prepared online. Buyers and sellers will also be able to book slots for registry as per their convenience. Identity verification and other necessary formalities will be completed after reaching the office on time. After completion of the registry, PDF copy of the digital deed can be received through mobile, e-mail or WhatsApp. This will reduce the hassle of maintaining documents.

Verification will be done through eyes and fingers

In the new process, the identity of the person registering the land will be digitally verified. For this, technologies like fingerprint and iris scanning will be used. After this the rest of the process including e-signature will be completed. This is expected to help in reducing the possibility of registration through mistaken identity or fake documents.

Facility to book slots from home

Now there will be facility to take online appointment before going to the registry office. After providing the necessary information and documents on the portal, the scheduled time slot can be taken. This can help reduce unnecessary crowding and long waits in offices. Special facility of home registry for senior citizens above 75 years of age is also an important part of the system.

Calculating fees will also be easy

In the digital process, stamp duty and registration fees related to registry can be calculated through software. There is also a system to complete the payment process through digital medium. Bihar's new paperless registry system is expected to save time, reduce paperwork and provide convenience to people in keeping documents safe in digital form.
