The trial run of the country’s first Vande Bharat Freight EMU, or Vande Bharat Freight Train , which has brought about a major revolution in the freight transport system of Indian Railways, has finally begun. During the trial run in the Kota division of West Central Railway, the train reached a maximum speed of 145 kilometers per hour. This train has been developed with the aim of making parcel and freight transport in the country faster, safer and more modern.
The railway administration has planned a trial programme of about a month for this train and it will be thoroughly tested on the Kota-Nagda-Sawai Madhopur railway route under various speeds, loads and operating conditions. Saurabh Jain, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Kota Division, said that this is the first freight EMU prototype rake in the country based on the Vande Bharat platform with 16 coaches. This project is expected to bring a major change in the logistics network of Indian Railways. He said that these trials will be conducted by at least two rounds per day. This modern freight train has been manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai. This train has been designed to make parcel services faster, more timely and more efficient.
