Passenger death at Shahdara station leads to five arrests
Delhi Police have arrested three adults and apprehended two juveniles in connection with the death of a passenger who was allegedly beaten by fellow travelers during an altercation while boarding the Yoga Express at Shahdara Railway Station, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Platform No. 3, where a disagreement among passengers escalated into violence, resulting in the fatal assault of Pankaj Dhama, a resident of Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh.
Police reported that the accused allegedly punched and kicked Dhama, causing severe injuries. The victim was immediately taken to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where he was declared dead by medical staff.
A case has been registered under Sections 105 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation is ongoing. Eight individuals were detained during operations in Muzaffarnagar.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Railways) stated, “Three adults have been arrested, and two juveniles apprehended. The three adults (Sagar, Prince and Akash) have been granted bail by the court. The two juveniles (names withheld) have been sent to a delinquent home by the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB).”
Further investigation into the case is underway.
