Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday announced its new national organizational team. In this team formed under the leadership of party president Nitin Naveen, the responsibilities of many old leaders have been retained, while some leaders have returned to the organization. However, the most talked about issue is about making Union Minister Piyush Goyal the national treasurer of the party.
Piyush Goyal is currently the Commerce and Industry Minister in the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After getting an important post in the organization, speculations have started about his removal from the cabinet. The reason for this is BJP's principle of 'one person, one post'. However, the party has not yet given any indication that Goyal is going to step down from the ministerial post.

What is BJP's 'one person, one post' formula?
In BJP, it is generally tried that no leader should simultaneously handle two big responsibilities in the party organization and the government. Its purpose is to maintain separate focus on the functioning of the organization and the government. For this reason, Goyal's new responsibility is being linked to the cabinet reshuffle. However, this rule is not a strict legal provision and the party has been making changes in it as per the need.
The rule of 'one person, one post' in BJP is not such that it has to be implemented in every situation. A big example of this is former national president JP Nadda. Even after becoming Health Minister in June 2024, he remained the party president till January 2026. In such a situation, it is not necessary that Piyush Goyal has to leave the post of minister. If the party wishes, considering his long organizational experience, he can give him both the responsibilities simultaneously.

Many old faces return in the new team
Former Union Minister Smriti Irani has been made the National General Secretary in Nitin Naveen's new team. At the same time, Ram Madhav has returned as National Vice President. Many leaders including Tirath Singh Rawat, D. Purandeshwari, Bharti Pawar and Manpreet Singh Badal have also got important responsibilities in the organization. Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal remain the national general secretaries, while BL Santosh will continue to hold the responsibility of national general secretary (organisation).
