Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a strong message to the world against terrorism while addressing the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. PM Modi made a strong appeal to dismantle the “entire ecosystem” of terrorism, including its financing, recruitment, radicalization and safe havens. He bluntly said that there can be no “double standards” in the fight against terrorism and countries that use it as a weapon of their policy should get a strong message that terrorism cannot be a 'strategic asset' for anyone.
In this historic summit being hosted by Kyrgyzstan President Sadir Japarov, senior leaders of many countries including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif were present. Addressing the summit, the Prime Minister also emphasized on the security of Eurasia as well as peace and stability in Afghanistan. Referring to the crisis in West Asia, he said that conflicts impact global energy security and supply chain, hence the solution to all problems is possible not in the battlefield but only through dialogue and diplomacy.
Apart from this, PM Modi termed drug smuggling as a serious threat to the young generation and talked about further strengthening mutual cooperation through the SCO mechanism. He said that the real measure of SCO's success should be how much the lives of our youth and citizens have improved. Let us tell you that India is a full member of this organization since 2017, and this summit is being organized in the “SCO Plus” format as the 25th anniversary of the organization, in which global and regional issues are being discussed extensively.
