New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, August 26 spoke to Nepalese Prime Minister Balen Shah and expressed grief over the loss of life and property caused by the devastating floods in the neighboring country. PM Modi assured Shah of India's full support and offered all possible humanitarian and relief assistance to help Nepal deal with the crisis.
At least 22 people were killed, 400 went missing and massive destruction occurred in riverside areas, including a dozen hydroelectric projects, in two districts of Nepal bordering Tibet due to massive flash floods.

In a post on Twitter, PM Modi said that the people of India stand in solidarity with Nepal in this difficult time and assured all possible humanitarian assistance to the country.

India is sending aid to Nepal, considering deploying NDRF
Officials said that India is preparing to send relief material to flood-affected Nepal by Air Force aircraft. An emergency consignment containing medicines, ration and other essential supplies will be sent to the neighboring country under HADR, the government's humanitarian assistance and disaster relief initiative.
Officials said the government is also considering deploying National Disaster Response Force NDRF personnel to Nepal to assist in rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.
105 Indians included among 291 missing foreigners
About 105 Indians are among the foreign nationals missing after the flash flood in Bhote Koshi river in Nepal's Rasuwa area. The tourism board of the country gave this information on Wednesday and said that this information is based on preliminary agency wise records received from tourism and travel companies.
The board said 384 passengers have been reported missing from the affected areas, including 291 foreign nationals and 93 Nepalese nationals. In the list of missing people released by Nepal Tourism, it has also been told that 37 NRIs are missing from the Himalayan glacier area.
Indian Embassy released helpline numbers
The Indian Embassy in Nepal has also given emergency contact numbers. “For help and information related to Indian nationals affected by the flash floods in Nepal today, they can contact these emergency numbers +977 9851316807 and +977 9709107500,” the embassy said in a post on Twitter.
Both these emergency numbers can also be contacted through WhatsApp. The embassy said it is working closely with the relevant authorities of Nepal.
So that the Indian citizens affected by the sudden flood in the country on Wednesday can be rescued as soon as possible and they can be provided relief. To help the people affected by the disaster, rescue and relief operations are being further strengthened in collaboration with the Government of Nepal.
