Read, Digital Desk : The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak case in Maharashtra has now emerged as a large and well-organized interstate syndicate. Police have identified a Bihar man as the mastermind and have sent teams to Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana to dismantle the network.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has assured the candidates that there will be no need for re-registration for the postponed examination and a new date will be decided.

Police searching for Bijendra Gupta of Bihar

Police suspect Vijendra Gupta, a resident of Samastipur, Bihar, as the mastermind of the racket. During interrogation, the three arrested accused reportedly identified him as such. Investigators claim that Gupta has allegedly been involved in exam paper leak cases in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar for approximately 25 years.

Three accused were remanded in police custody.

A Bhiwandi court on Sunday remanded three suspects arrested in the TET paper leak case – Rajiv Shah (45) of Patna, Akash Kumar alias Suraj Singh (30) of Patna, and Dheeraj Singh (28) of Panipat, Haryana – to police custody till July 6, giving investigators additional time to probe the alleged racket.

Police have also identified Kapil Dahiya of Sonipat, Haryana, as another wanted accused, whose role is being investigated. Police sources said investigators, with the help of the education department, are tracing the source of the leak through the unique QR code printed on each question paper. The Maharashtra State Examination Board had to cancel the TET exam scheduled for June 28, a day before its scheduled date, affecting more than 600,000 candidates.

What did the School Education Minister say

Teacher organizations have renewed their demand for a review of the policy requiring the TET for promotion to senior teachers. School Education Minister Dada Bhuse said the state government has taken the matter seriously and assured candidates that the exam will be rescheduled, without requiring them to submit new applications or pay examination fees.

The TET exam was scheduled to be held at 1,028 centers across Maharashtra. “Strict action will be taken against those found guilty,” Bhuse said, adding that a new exam date would be announced soon.
