New Delhi: Amid the controversy over Special Intensive Revision of Voter List or SIR, the opposition INDIA alliance on Wednesday gave a message of unity. The alliance leaders announced a week-long 'Save Democracy' march from October 2 to 8 and also demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. After the meeting of INDIA alliance leaders, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge gave information about the entire program. He told that between October 2 and 8, opposition parties will protest at the District Magistrate offices. After this, on October 6, all the MPs of the alliance will march to the Election Commission.
Preparation to meet the President
The opposition will also seek an appointment with the President in the second week of October. According to Kharge, the alliance wants to tell them how the country's institutions will be affected. "Capture" Is being done. A total of six points were decided in the meeting, including demonstrations and marches against the Election Commission.
Clarification was given in the joint press conference on the questions arising regarding the unity of the alliance. Kharge said that all the parties have said that they will fight this fight together. When asked whether the decision is a collective one and whether the alliance is united on the issue, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee said the INDIA alliance is completely together.
Sharp allegations against the Election Commission
Kharge also directly attacked the Election Commission. He alleges that two-three people within the Commission are being used as pawns. He claimed that Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are running them like puppets. These allegations are the claims of the opposition, on which the response of the government or the Election Commission is awaited.
The opposition was already demanding action on the Election Commission regarding SIR and dissent report. Now, through this program of taking to the streets, the alliance wants to convey its message to the public. The demonstrations to be held in the districts in the coming days and the march of Parliamentarians on October 6 will decide how much impact this campaign leaves.
