Bengaluru: Former MP Prajwal Revanna, lodged in Central Jail, is once again under investigation. During the forensic examination of the mobile phone seized from him in jail, it has come to light that about 90 obscene videos were found. The investigating agencies are now examining the videos, photographs and other digital data present in the phone. The matter is also being investigated as to where the material present in the mobile came from and whether it is related to any criminal case.

New FIR registered after raid in jail
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) had raided Bengaluru Central Jail on Tuesday. Meanwhile, it came to light that a mobile phone was found with Prajwal Revanna. After this the police have registered a new FIR. Undertrial prisoner Pratap Rai has also been made an accused in this case. The seized mobile has been sent to the forensic team for investigation.
Prajwal is serving life imprisonment in rape case.
Prajwal Revanna is the son of JDS MLA HD Revanna and grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in August 2025 in a case of sexual crimes involving women. A woman had filed a complaint against Prajwal in April 2024. The woman had alleged that sexual crimes were committed against her several times and she was threatened if she informed anyone about the matter.

Hearing of three other cases is also pending
In this case, the court had taken action against Prajwal on charges related to rape, voyeurism, criminal intimidation and obscene material. On August 1, 2025, the Special Court of People's Representatives convicted him. The next day the court imposed life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 11.50 lakh. Out of this, Rs 11.25 lakh was ordered to be given to the victim. Three other rape cases are also pending against Prajwal. Court hearing is still pending in these cases. At the same time, the police is carrying forward the investigation of digital evidence regarding the mobile recovered from the jail.
