Pregnant Woman Raped On Moving Train : चलती ट्रेन में गर्भवती महिला का रेप, पश्चिम बंगाल की घटना, आरोपी गिरफ्तार

New Delhi. A 20-year-old pregnant woman was raped on a moving train in West Bengal. The incident occurred on Thursday night before the Alipurduar railway station on the Sikkim-Mahananda Express. After the train stopped at Alipurduar, the GRP arrested the accused based on the woman’s complaint. The accused, Gautam Mahato, is a resident of Rangia, Assam. Police produced him in court, where he was remanded to five days of police custody. The victim has been hospitalized.

According to reports, the victim is a resident of Shamuktala in Alipurduar district. She had visited her sister’s home in Delhi and was returning home to West Bengal on the Mahananda Express when she was raped. According to the woman, she was traveling in a coach reserved for the disabled. When the train arrived at Hasimara station, all passengers disembarked, leaving only the woman and the accused. After this, when the train moved ahead from there, the accused found the woman alone, caught hold of her and raped her. The woman tried to save herself but due to her pregnancy, she could not do much.

After this, as soon as the train reached Alipurduar railway station, the woman started screaming loudly. GRP personnel posted at the station arrested the accused on the woman’s complaint. GRP officer Indrabadan Jha said that when the train was near Garopada station, the railway electrical staff travelling in the compartment next to the second disabled coach had heard the woman’s screams and cries. The police are currently investigating the matter.
