President Draupadi Murmu leaves to visit Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania

New Delhi, 19 July 2026: President Draupadi Murmu left today to visit three countries – Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania. President Murmu will reach Moldova in the first phase of this visit. This will be the first visit of an Indian President to Moldova. During the visit, he will hold delegation-level talks with Moldovan President Maia Sandu. He will also meet the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament, Igor Grosu. Additionally, the President will interact with members of the Moldova-India Parliamentary Friendship Group. He will address the India-Moldova Business Forum and will also meet members of the Indian community.

In the second leg of his visit, President Murmu will visit North Macedonia from 21 to 22 July. He will be the first President of India to visit North Macedonia. During the visit, he will hold bilateral talks with President Siljanovska-Davkova. He will also meet the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Parliament and address the North Macedonian Assembly. The President will also address the ‘India-North Macedonia Business Forum’. Both countries have expressed keen interest in strengthening economic cooperation in priority sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, information technology and IT-enabled services.

President Murmu will visit Romania from 23 to 25 July during the last leg of his three-nation visit. This will be the first visit of an Indian President to this south-eastern European country in more than three decades. During the visit, he will meet the President of Romania, the Acting Prime Minister, the President of the Senate and members of the Romania-India Parliamentary Friendship Group. He will address the ‘India-Romania Business Forum’ and will also interact with members of the Indian community.

This visit is considered important to give new impetus to India’s bilateral relations with these three countries and to further expand cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, technology, innovation, education and people-to-people contacts.
