New Delhi. Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met Indian pilot Captain Smit Machar, who with his wisdom and courage saved the lives of hundreds of passengers in the flydubai plane crash, at the hospital. He greatly appreciated the courage and responsibility of Captain Machar.
Sheikh Hamdan said that Captain Smit Courage, responsibility and dedication to protect human life. An example has been presented. He said he has the full respect and admiration of the UAE leadership and the country is proud to have him as part of its team.
It is noteworthy that on September 30, Captain Machar was attacked by the co-pilot inside the cockpit of flydubai flight FZ1073 going from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Despite being seriously injured, he opened the cockpit door, after which the passengers and crew members overpowered the attacker. The plane later landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
The condition of Captain Smit, who is undergoing treatment in Abu Dhabi, is said to be improving. The Indian Embassy has also informed about his better health.
