Public career of 'Cockroach Janata Party' is over? Former judge Markandey Katju targets Abhijeet Deepke

New Delhi. Former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju has made sharp remarks on Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Deepke and other prominent members of the organization. Katju claims that after the action of Delhi Police, the public credibility of CJP leaders who signed the bond to maintain peace has been lost. He has called it a big blow to the political and social future of the organization.

Questions raised regarding signing of bond

Katju mentioned Abhijit Deepke, Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ajinkya Shinde in his comments on social media. He says that these leaders have signed bonds related to maintaining peace. In such a situation, if they participate in any further public demonstration, the police can consider it as a violation of the terms of the bond and take action.

On this basis, the former judge claimed that these leaders have lost their credibility among the public. He compared them to people who had to abandon their path of protest due to fear of going to jail. However, this is Katju's personal political comment, not a judicial conclusion.

Neha Bora praised, other leaders taunted

Katju mentioned Neha Bora in his statement and praised her. She said that she backed out from signing the bond considering peaceful protest as a constitutional right. Because of this stance, Katju expressed respect for him and targeted other CJP leaders.

Katju lashed out at all political parties too

In another statement, Markandey Katju clarified that criticizing Congress and other parties does not mean that he is a supporter of BJP. He said that he does not like any political party in the country. According to him, political parties work for power and money and increase division and hatred in the society.

Katju also said that the country needs a new leadership which is modern, secular and gives priority to the national interest. He expressed hope that new leadership will emerge from the mass movement in the future.

What is CJP and the background of the controversy?

Cockroach Janata Party was started by Abhijit Deepke as a satirical political platform. The organization later campaigned against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and raised questions over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

In October, Deepke and some other leaders of the organization were detained by the police ahead of the proposed demonstration at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. He was later released on bond and conditions relating to keeping the peace. After this, CJP supported the issue of INDIA alliance rally held at Ramlila Maidan on November 1, although Deepke had talked about maintaining the independent and non-party identity of the organization.

At present, Katju's comment has sparked a new debate on the stance of CJP leaders and the future strategy of the organization. His claim cannot be considered as the final decision on the future of the organization; Only the further activities of CJP will clarify its direction.
