Punjab has attracted investments worth ₹1.89 lakh crore over the last four years, creating employment potential for around 6.31 lakh youth, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said while reviewing the progress of the Industries Department.

Mann said the scale of investment reflected growing confidence among domestic and global investors in Punjab's industrial ecosystem. He said the state government was working to create a transparent and investor-friendly environment through improved infrastructure, streamlined approvals and responsive governance.

According to the figures shared by the Chief Minister, SAS Nagar (Mohali) leads the state in new investment proposals received through Common Application Forms (CAFs) during the financial years 2022-23 to 2026-27, with proposals worth ₹9,478 crore. Ludhiana followed with ₹4,968 crore, Patiala with ₹2,590 crore and Hoshiarpur with ₹2,003 crore.

Other districts also recorded significant proposals, including Fatehgarh Sahib at ₹1,265 crore, Bathinda at ₹1,248 crore, Kapurthala at ₹1,037 crore and Jalandhar at ₹1,003 crore.

Mann said the geographical spread of investments indicated that industrial development was extending beyond traditional industrial centers and creating opportunities across different regions of the state.

He said Mohali and Ludhiana together accounted for 49.8 per cent of investments routed through CAFs during the period. He highlighted Mohali's expanding IT, technology and innovation ecosystem and said the government was committed to supporting technology companies, start-ups, knowledge-based industries and innovative enterprises.

The investment proposals span sectors including real estate, housing and infrastructure, alloy steel and metal manufacturing, agri and food processing, bio-energy and renewable resources, automobile components, textiles and apparel.

Mann said companies including Tata Steel, JSW Steel, AICHI Steels, Vardhman, Nestlé, Hindustan Lever, Cargill, De Heus, HMEL, Santhan Textiles and Freudenberg had invested or expanded their presence in Punjab.

The Chief Minister also highlighted initiatives to strengthen Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through specialized industrial clusters. SAS Nagar has been approved for a Hi-Tech Metal Cluster, while Ludhiana has been selected for clusters related to Oil Expeller and Parts Manufacturing, Garments and Honey Processing. Patiala has been selected for a dedicated Cutting Tool Cluster.

He said these clusters would provide common infrastructure, modern technology, skill development, economies of scale and better market linkages.

Two major Industrial Park projects have also been approved, with the government aiming to strengthen industrial infrastructure, connectivity and administrative support.

Mann said the government's objective was not limited to attracting investment but to convert it into employment, entrepreneurship and higher incomes for Punjab's youth.
