Punjab News: The Punjab government’s Chief Minister’s Health Scheme is providing significant financial relief to patients suffering from serious illnesses and their families. Under the scheme, 244,468 cashless treatments have been performed for the 10 most frequently performed medical procedures. The government has spent over ₹316.50 crore on these treatments . The scheme aims to ensure that no patient faces a delay in receiving necessary treatment due to lack of funds.
Treatment facilities ranging from dialysis to knee replacement
According to data from the State Health Agency, Punjab, the highest number of chronic hemodialysis sessions under the scheme was conducted at 187,656, with an expenditure of over ₹30.65 crore. This was followed by 17,698 laparoscopic gallbladder surgeries and 10,751 knee replacement surgeries . Knee replacements have helped a large number of elderly patients regain mobility and become self-reliant.
Additionally, 9,317 women have also undergone cashless cesarean deliveries under the scheme, reducing the financial burden on families during childbirth.
Expensive heart and kidney treatments are also included in the plan.
The Chief Minister’s Health Scheme also covers treatment for serious heart conditions. To date, 8,734 patients have undergone PTCA with diagnostic angiography , while 554 have undergone CABG surgery. This has reduced the likelihood of delaying necessary heart treatment due to financial constraints.
5,770 PCNL procedures and 2,247 lower ureter surgeries for kidney stone treatment have also been performed. 911 cementless total hip replacements and 830 radical surgical procedures are covered under the plan.
Emphasis on treatment without financial worries
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh said that the true success of a health scheme is determined by how many families receive timely treatment without financial hardship. According to him, the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme is working to ensure that financial constraints do not become a barrier to treatment.
The scheme is expanding the scope of healthcare services in Punjab, providing even critical and expensive treatments. This is providing better care to the elderly, maternity services to women, and timely treatment to patients with serious illnesses.
Financial security along with treatment to families
The impact of the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme is not limited to hospital treatment. By reducing the cost of expensive medical care, families are no longer required to spend a significant portion of their savings and income on hospital bills. This allows them to focus more on the patient’s recovery.
