PV Sindhu creates history, wins Japan Open badminton title

Two-time Olympic medallist P.V. Sindhu has won the Japan Open badminton title for the first time. She is the first Indian to win this title. In the final, Sindhu defeated three-time world champion Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in straight sets 21-17, 21-17. Sindhu has won the Super 750 tournament title after a gap of more than two years.

Earlier, she won the Syed Modi International Badminton Tournament in 2024. P.V. Sindhu is the first Indian woman to reach the final of the Japan Open. She defeated Chen Yufei in the semi-finals.
