Qatar Gas Plant Explosion – 54 Injured, 18 Missing at Ras Laffan’s Barzan Facility
Qatar gas plant explosion: A massive explosion occurred at the Barjan gas supply plant in Qatar’s major Ras Laffan industrial area on Sunday night. At least 54 employees were injured in the blast, while 18 others are still missing. After this tragic accident, there is an atmosphere of panic among the people. In fact, the accident occurred as employees were attempting to resume operations at the terminal following Iranian bombing and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, a fire broke out due to an explosion.
Several people were injured in the incident; however, authorities said the situation was under control, and there was no threat to civilian safety. Qatar’s Interior Ministry said the accident was caused by a technical problem at a factory. Civil defense and emergency services teams rushed to the scene soon after the blast and started rescue work. The ministry had initially said there were no reports of injuries or gas leaks, but later confirmed in a statement that several people were injured in the incident. The injured are being given medical treatment.

Qatar’s state-owned energy company, Qatar Energy, also confirmed the incident. The company said the accident occurred at the Barzan gas supply center in Ras Laffan Industrial City. The accident occurred while the plant was resuming operations. There was an explosion and a fire. According to the company, the Emergency Response Unit was activated soon after the fire broke out and began containing it. The fire has been brought under control after a few hours of effort.
An accurate assessment of the damage caused by this tremendous explosion is yet to be made. Authorities initially said only a few people were injured in the accident, but Qatar’s interior ministry reported a far higher number of casualties a few hours later.
