New Delhi, July 7. On the death anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, the author of the national anthem “Jana Gana Mana” and Nobel Prize-winning literary figure, leaders across the country paid tribute to him. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Chief Ministers of several states paid tribute to him on the social media platform “X” remembering his contributions.
Om Birla said, “Gave a new direction to Indian consciousness”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was a great architect of India’s cultural renaissance. He gave a new direction to Indian consciousness through literature, education, music, painting, and philosophy. Birla said that receiving the Nobel Prize for “Gitanjali” in 1913 was a historic moment that brought global recognition to Indian literature.
Amit Shah described him as the voice of national consciousness.
Home Minister Amit Shah said that Gurudev Tagore, through his writings, gave voice to the soul of India and infused new consciousness into the freedom movement. He said that ‘Jana Gana Mana’ symbolizes the nation’s unified consciousness and self-respect. Furthermore, by establishing Visva-Bharati University, he brought global recognition to Indian culture and education.
Union Ministers Remembered His Contributions
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Tagore’s immortal works and exemplary life will always inspire the nation and society to progress. Union Minister Manohar Lal described him as a great personality who gave a new direction to Indian culture, education, and the idea of Swaraj. Nitin Gadkari paid tribute, calling him a symbol of Indian scholarship and national consciousness.
Chief Ministers Also Paid Heartfelt Tributes
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Gurudev Tagore enhanced India’s pride through literature, culture, and self-respect. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also paid tribute to him, saying his timeless works will continue to inspire generations to come.

Rabindranath Tagore received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1913 for his poetic work “Gitanjali.” He became Asia’s first Nobel laureate. He composed the national anthem “Jana Gana Mana” and made indelible contributions to education, literature, music, art, and humanity.
