Tezzbuzz Desk- Central Railway will run a special ticket checking campaign from October 1 to October 31, 2026. During this period, there will be special emphasis on checking the identity of passengers traveling on concessional tickets, reservation quota, passes and PTO.
There is going to be an important change regarding ticket checking for railway passengers from October 1, 2026. A special ticket checking campaign will be run by Central Railway from October 1 to October 31, 2026. During this period, tickets at trains and railway stations will be checked more strictly than before. Special attention will be given to checking passengers traveling on concessional fares, passengers with tickets booked against reservation quota and those traveling through pass or PTO.
During the campaign, passengers will also have to carry the original ID proof along with their ticket. If the required identity card is not shown at the time of checking, the validity of the ticket may be questioned. If more than one passenger is traveling on the same ticket, at least one passenger will be required to have a valid ID during checking. In case ID is not shown, all passengers traveling on that ticket may be considered as traveling without valid ticket. In such cases, fine or other action can be taken as per Railway rules.
Special checking will also be done for passengers traveling on concessional fares and reservation quota. During checking, it will be seen whether the concerned passenger is actually eligible to avail the benefit of that concession or reservation quota or not. In such a situation, merely showing the ticket may not be sufficient and if necessary, identity documents will also have to be shown.
ID related rules will also be important for railway employees and their family members. Passengers availing travel facilities like e-pass and PTO will have to carry their original ID proof during the journey. Before travelling, it must also be ensured that the e-pass or PTO has been correctly converted into 'Authority to Travel'. In case the required process is not completed or valid ID is not shown, action may be taken under the rules of traveling without proper ticket.
The special checking campaign of Central Railway will not be limited to reserved tickets or concessional tickets only. Tickets without reservation will also be checked. If the checking staff has any doubt about a ticket, the ticket information can be checked on the spot through the TTE app. The campaign aims to prevent use of fake or altered tickets as well as misuse of facilities like reservation, concession, passes and PTO.
In such a situation, it is important for the passengers traveling from October 1 to keep their original ID proof along with the ticket. Passengers traveling through concession, reservation quota, e-pass or PTO should also check the related documents and travel permission in advance. Due to the special ticket checking campaign on trains and stations of Central Railway in the month of October, checking may remain strict. Therefore, it will be necessary to check both the ticket and ID before travelling.
