New Delhi : The ongoing rains in many states of the country have raised concerns. Life has been disrupted due to heavy rains in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh. Heavy rains triggered by an intense low pressure area in Odisha have raised the levels of several rivers above the danger level, affecting hundreds of villages and evacuating around 1,4500 people.
Schools across the state have been closed on September 26 due to rain and flood-like conditions in Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, due to the possibility of heavy rains, storms and flash floods in Uttar Pradesh, the government has directed special vigilance in sensitive districts. The rains in Odisha on Friday led to problems in many parts. At least 63 places across the state recorded more than 100 mm rainfall, while three places recorded more than 300 mm rainfall. Tentulkhunti in Nabarangpur recorded the highest rainfall of 395 mm.

Nandahandi recorded 344 mm while Boriguma in Koraput recorded 307.8 mm of rainfall. 857 villages affected, rivers also flooded
The most severe impact of heavy rains has been felt in 10 districts of the state namely Koraput, Malkangiri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuwapada and Bolangir. According to the government, 857 villages across the state have been hit by rain-related incidents and 14,479 people have been shifted to safer places. Most 189 villages are in Gajapati, while 58 villages have been affected.

There was a possibility of more rain in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert of heavy rain for 13 districts. Heavy rain yellow alert was issued for 29 districts. There was also a possibility of gusty winds of 40 to 60 km per hour in 52 districts. Till Thursday evening, Prayagraj recorded 26 mm, Sultanpur 20.8 mm, Amethi 19.8 mm and Gorakhpur 14.2 mm. Barabanki, Ayodhya, Ghazipur, Ballia, Sonbhadra and Maharajganj also received rain.
