Rain Alert: Danger of torrential rain in Eastern UP for the next 5 days, IMD’s big alert for many states including Bihar

New Delhi: Monsoon has once again become active in many parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain for the next few days in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and North-Eastern states. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rain at many places in eastern Uttar Pradesh for the next five days. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rain, storm and lightning in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and many states of North-East India.

Heavy rain alert in eastern UP and Bihar

According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of good rain in many areas of Eastern Uttar Pradesh for the next five days. In Bihar too, there may be heavy rain at many places between July 12 and July 15 to 18. People have been advised to remain alert in view of situations like waterlogging and local floods.

Maximum impact in North-East India

There is a possibility of widespread rain in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from July 12 to 18. Especially on July 12, an alert of heavy to very heavy rain has been issued in Meghalaya. Thunderstorms and strong winds may also occur in many areas.

Rains will continue in West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand and Odisha in the coming days. There is a possibility of rain and strong winds in Jharkhand and Odisha. There has also been a warning of rain along with thunderstorm and lightning in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Keep an eye on the hilly states of North India also

Rain is expected to continue in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for the next several days. Warnings of heavy rain, storm and lightning have been issued at some places in these areas. There may also be a danger of landslides and road blockage in hilly areas.

Light to moderate rain in South India

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many parts of South India like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Lakshadweep. However, the plains of north-west, west-central and south peninsular India are expected to receive relatively less rainfall during the next six to seven days. The Meteorological Department has appealed to people to remain alert during bad weather, avoid unnecessary travel and follow the advice of the local administration.
