New Delhi: Incessant rains since Thursday in most of the districts of UP including Lucknow have disrupted life. Torrential rains along with strong winds continued in many districts on Saturday also. Due to rain, mud houses are collapsing, trees are uprooted and the electricity system has come to a complete standstill at many places.
Not only this, news of two major accidents has also come to light amid incessant rains. A 52-year-old woman, Nankai, died after being buried under the debris after the wall of her thatched house collapsed in Devlakha village of Kaiserganj police station area of Bahraich. At the same time, in Malhipur Khurd village of Shravasti, 20 year old youth Mahmood Raza was seriously injured when the wall of his house collapsed.
In which districts the maximum impact of rain is visible?
The effect of rain is most visible in the Terai districts. Trees and electric poles have fallen at many places in Balrampur, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sitapur, Sultanpur and Ambedkar Nagar. At the same time, more than half a dozen transformers have broken down in Ayodhya, due to which darkness has spread from city to village. In Sultanpur and Amethi, the paddy and sugarcane crops standing in the fields have fallen due to the strong wind, due to which the concern of the farmers has increased. A big tree fell on a school bus in Jalalpur, Ambedkar Nagar, fortunately there were no children in the bus at that time.
Order to close schools and colleges
In Sitapur, the administration is appealing to the people through loudspeakers to come out of the house only when absolutely necessary. In Lucknow, DM has ordered closure of all schools up to class 12 as well as degree colleges, polytechnics and ITIs on Saturday. In many cities the temperature has come down to 9 to 10 degrees.
Next 24 heavy rain warnings
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of extremely heavy rain in 59 districts of the state for the next 24 hours. Red alert has been issued for Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti and Bahraich. The department says that the weather will remain like this till September 27. There is a possibility of very heavy rain in eastern UP on 26 September and strong winds along with thunderstorms on 27.
Here, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed all the District Magistrates to remain in the field. He said that people living in dilapidated houses should be shifted to safe places and relief camps. Also, the damage caused by excessive rainfall should be assessed within 24 hours and help should be provided to the victims.
