Businessman turned actor Raj Kundra was arrested in the year 2021 on charges of making obscene films (pornography case). Now he has spoken openly about his painful experience of 63 days spent in Mumbai's infamous Arthur Road Jail and the strong support of his wife Shilpa Shetty during this difficult period.
During a recent interview, Raj Kundra told that when the news of his divorce from Shilpa Shetty started appearing in the media while he was in jail, what was his reaction at that time and how scary thoughts of committing suicide started coming in his mind.
Called for questioning and arrested
In an interview given to ABP News, Raj Kundra, while recalling the incident of his arrest, said that the police had called him only for questioning. He had no idea that he would be sent behind bars.
He said that he was called to the police station and he went without any hesitation. While he was sitting inside, he read on the social media platform 'X' that he had been arrested. When he asked the police officer present there about this, the officer told that yes, the same order has been received from above.
Shilpa Shetty got information about her arrest from news
Raj Kundra revealed that his wife and actress Shilpa Shetty also got the news of his arrest directly from news channels. At that time Shilpa was completely nervous, but she immediately gathered courage and prepared a team of the best lawyers of the country.
Raj Kundra said that Shilpa was not able to understand what to do next. At that time, about 4,000 people were working in his business in India. Shilpa was repeatedly saying how she would handle all this alone. Raj thought that he would get bail after 63 days, but he did not know how much time this legal process would take.
All businesses had to be closed overnight
Raj Kundra further said that in that time of unprecedented crisis, Shilpa Shetty was left with no other option, so she took a very difficult and tough decision to close all those businesses overnight. Raj Kundra also mentioned the most painful night of his jail days, when false news of his and Shilpa Shetty's divorce reached his ears in the media.
Raj Kundra was heartbroken after hearing the rumor of divorce
Recalling that horrifying scene, he said that he was somehow managing himself inside the jail. But one day this news came through the media, which was later revealed to be just a rumour, that Shilpa Shetty was leaving Raj Kundra and both of them were getting divorced.
Raj told that this baseless news had shaken him to the core, because his family and his wife were his biggest strength in those difficult times. He was so devastated after hearing this rumor that thoughts of suicide started coming into his mind.
Raj wanted to kill himself that night in jail
Sharing his pain, he said that he could not sleep even for a moment that night. He felt that he should end his life now and there was no point left in living further. For him, nothing is bigger than his wife and family and at that moment he felt that everything should end here.
However, the very next morning when he talked to Shilpa Shetty on phone, the whole atmosphere changed. Wife Shilpa consoled him and made it clear that all these news are completely fake and baseless. Shilpa assured that her support and love for Raj remains the same even today. This unwavering trust and support of his wife gave Raj Kundra the courage to stand up and fight once again inside the jail.
