Rajasthan News: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has reacted after the results of Rajasthan's municipal elections came out. He also mentioned the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the party's performance in the elections. The counting of votes for 309 urban bodies in Rajasthan took place on September 14. A total of results for more than 10,000 wards have come out.
What did CM Bhajanlal Sharma say?
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said on the results of the civic elections that the party has received public support. He also linked the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the election performance and said that it would be beneficial.
The Chief Minister thanked the party workers and voters who worked in the elections. He said that the election results have increased the enthusiasm among the workers.
BJP-Congress figures in civic elections
In the urban body elections of Rajasthan, elections were held in a total of 309 urban bodies including 10 Municipal Corporations, 51 Municipal Councils and 248 Municipalities. Voting was held for a total of 10,245 councilor seats. Voting was held in two phases on 9 and 11 September.
According to the available results, BJP won 4,171 wards, while Congress won 3,597 wards. Independent candidates also won in large numbers and achieved success in 2,272 wards. Apart from this, candidates of other parties also emerged victorious in many wards.
Different pictures in many cities
The results of municipal elections showed a different picture in different cities. BJP achieved majority in Udaipur Municipal Corporation by winning 53 out of 80 wards. Whereas Congress took lead in Ajmer and Pali Municipal Corporation. The performance of independent candidates was also prominent in Bharatpur.
BJP won 78 seats in 150 wards of Jaipur Municipal Corporation, while Congress won 53 wards and 15 independent candidates emerged victorious.
Political activities intensify after election results
After the results of civic elections, political activities have intensified in Rajasthan. Further process will start regarding board formation and posts of mayor, chairman and president in different municipal bodies.
