Rajasthan Sports Quota: 235 Athletes Get Out-of-Turn Govt Jobs, 9 Named DSPs

For many Indian athletes, winning a medal often comes with an uncertain future once their competitive years are over. The Bhajanlal Sharma government in Rajasthan has now addressed that concern for 235 sportspersons by approving out-of-turn government appointments for medal winners at national and international events.

The decision was taken at the seventh meeting of the state-level committee, chaired by Chief Secretary V. Srinivas at the Government Secretariat in Jaipur. The committee reviewed 286 applications from general and para-athletes and cleared 235 of them.

The appointments are divided into three categories. Under Category A, nine athletes will be appointed Deputy Superintendents of Police, a senior post that brings both rank and responsibility.
