Political upheaval in Amroha: Gangeshwari block chief Rajendra Kharagvanshi left BJP and rode a bicycle.
Lucknow: A big change has been seen in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. 42 Gangeshwari block chief of Hasanpur assembly constituency Rajendra Kharagvanshi has left BJP and joined SP. On Tuesday, he took membership of SP along with his wife Nirvesh Devi. Nirvesh Devi herself has been a former block chief and District Panchayat member, due to which this step is being considered to have a big impact in local politics. Rajendra Kharagvanshi is the younger brother of Mahendra Singh Kharagvanshi, who is the BJP MLA from Hasanpur. Rajendra had become the block chief from Gangeshwari on BJP ticket in the three-tier Panchayat elections of 2021, but even before the Lok Sabha elections of 2024, discussions about his being in touch with other parties had intensified.

Earlier too, her pictures with Akhilesh Yadav had surfaced in political circles, when she had presented him a bouquet of flowers. At the same time, after joining Congress in Amroha Lok Sabha seat alliance, he also contacted Congress leaders and demanded ticket, but later started appearing in BJP programs again. According to sources, his joining in SP was to happen on April 16 only. For this, he had reached Lucknow on the night of 15th April with about 150 supporters and a convoy of more than 40 vehicles, but due to Akhilesh Yadav being busy in the Lok Sabha, formal membership could not be held that day. Now finally he has joined SP and is completely on the ‘cycle’.
It is believed that his eyes are now on getting ticket from 42 Hasanpur assembly seat. The caste equation of this area is also considered to be in their favor, where out of about 3.39 lakh voters, there are about 1.15 lakh Kharagvanshi voters, about 1.10 lakh Muslim voters and about 10 thousand Yadav voters. This step of Rajendra Kharagvanshi is being considered as a big upheaval in the politics of Hasanpur, the effect of which can be clearly visible in the coming elections.
